1000-year-old Aramaic Manuscript seized in Bursa

After an anti-smuggling police raid in the city of Bursa, Turkish, police seized a 1,000-year-old manuscript. After a tip-off, Turkish police forces apprehended four suspects including two potential buyers.

According to Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah, the manuscript was handwritten in ancient Aramaic and inscribed on papyrus. The authenticity and origin of the manuscript however needs further research.

It is at least the second time this year that old manuscripts were confiscated on the black market by Turkish police. In June of this year, again in Bursa, Turkish policed seized two early Christian Bible manuscripts worth an estimated $1.75 million.
