St. Stephen’s Day celebrated in Qamishli
QAMISHLI – Under the patronage of His Eminence, Mor Maurice Amsih, Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of al-Jazeera and Euphrates, and under the supervision of the Syriac Sect Council, the Religious Education Center for the Syriac Orthodox held a spiritual evening on the occasion of St. Stephen’s Day at St. Jacob al-Nusaybini Church in Qamishli. St. Stephen was the first Archdeacon and the first Christian martyr.
The evening included reading the story of the saint and hymns recitation for this occasion.
The Religious Education Center for the Syriac Orthodox in Qamishli also honored and thanked Mary Malke, Danho Malke, and Fouad Ishac for their many years of service to the church, especially in the Religious Education Center.
In his speech, His Eminence, Archbishop Mor Maurice Amsih, spoke about the deacon’s service and the role of the deacon in the church. He also asked God to bless all Syriac-Assyrian churches and the Syriac-Assyrian people and prayed for the security and peace throughout Syria, especially in the al-Jazeera canton.
