His Holiness, Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II receives Swedish Chargé d’Affaires
DAMASCUS – On Wednesday, His Holiness, Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, His Eminence Archbishop Mor Anthimos Jack Yacoub, Patriarchal Vicar for Youth and Christian Education, and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director received His Excellency Mr. Jörgen Lindström, Charge d’Affaires of the Swedish Embassy in Damascus at the Patriarchate Headquarters in Bab Touma, Damascus.
His Holiness welcomed H.E. Mr. Jürgen and discussed with him the situation of Christians in the Middle East, the effect of immigration on their presence in the homeland, as well as the development and humanitarian aid provided by the Patriarchate.
H.E. Mr. Jürgen talked about the role of Sweden in supporting Christians, pointing to the Swedish community welcoming immigrants, providing them the appropriate environment to preserve their cultures and native languages, as well as the leading role of Sweden in ensuring religious freedom for all.
