Bethnahrain Patriotic Union receives leadership of the Assyrian Democratic Organization

Ankawa – A delegation of the Assyrian Democratic Organization (ADO) visited the Bethnahrain Patriotic Union Party (HBA) in its office in the town of Ankawa, Erbil. The visiting delegation included ADO-chairman Daoud Daoud, foreign affairs representative Gabriel Moshe and Bashir Saadi. They were received by HBA-chairman Yusuf Yacoub Matti, and members of the HBA Political Bureau Sabah Barkho and Mr. Basil. Present at the meeting was Romeo Hakkari, chairman of the Bethnahrain Democratic Party and MP in the parliament of the Kurdish Region in Iraq.

Yusuf Yacoub Matti, head of the Bethnahrain Patriotic Union welcomed the ADO delegation, expressed his appreciation for the visit and stressing its importance in strengthening bilateral relations between the two parties. He also welcomed ideas to develop a further framework for cooperation between the parties of our Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people in Iraq, especially considering the current difficult conditions in the country. Yusuf Yacoub also pointed to the common goals of the two parties, that can serve as the basis for the framework for cooperation: to defend the rights of our Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people in the region and Iraq through diplomatic work on a national and international level.

ADO-chairman Daoud Daoud spoke about the meetings conducted by the ADO-delegation with the several parties of our people. The meetings aimed to strengthen the relations between the political parties who had previously agreed on a large number of principles that can serve as a basis for the cooperation needed in establishing the rights of our people in the region and in Iraq.

Yusuf Yacoub Matti also elaborated on the reality and current conditions of our people in Iraq and the Nineveh Plain in particular. He too indicated that the difficult conditions should incite every one of us and al our political parties to continue work on cooperation and on agreed points of understanding between Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian political parties and to speak with a unified voice for our Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian rights and aspirations.

Another topic of the meeting was the situation in Syria – which is being made very complex as a result of regional and international interventions – and the need to find a political solution to end the Syrian crisis.
