Latakia – The Syriac Parish Relief Committee this week announced a program to support Syriac university students residing in the city of Latakia, Syria. The program is backed and supported by the Syriac Orthodox patriarchal delegate for Aleppo his Eminence Boutros Kassis. The support program is for students of all disciplines.
Under the directives of the Syriac Parish Relief Office and the 2020 relief program, the program will support Syriac Orthodox undergraduate studying at the Tishreen University in Latakia, especially those students living on their own, with food stamps and other daily basic needs. The program started this February 7th.
The diocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church in the city of Aleppo, Syria, earlier this year also announced a special initiative to cover wedding expenses for Syriacs to counter Syriac emigration.
