Azouz and al-Hajj: Door open for serious negotiations between Democratic Autonomous Administration and Damascus
Faisal Azouz and Muhannad al-Hajj, members of the Syrian People's Assembly stated that the discussions between the Democratic Autonomous Administration and Damascus are "serious" and the door to negotiations is always open.
DAMASCUS – In a statement, Faisal Azouz, member of the Syrian People’s Assembly, commented that the negotiations between the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAA) and Damascus are serious and continuous. Sometimes, said Azouz, negotiations slow down but they still progressing. They will become more serious, continued the statement, with Russian mediation, indicating that this is the DAA’s requirement.
Azouz excluded the possibility of the DAA’s participation and representation in the constitutional committee, “at least at the current stage”, due to many issues regarding the committee.
Muhannad al-Hajj, also a member of the Syrian People’s Assembly, stated that the door to negotiations is always open, “but under the homeland authority.”
It is worth noting that, through Russian mediation, the Syrian Government agreed to engage in political negotiations with the DAA, according to a statement by Mr. Sanharib Barsoum, Co-chair of the Syriac Union Party in Syria. Barsoum also confirmed that negotiations between the DAA and Damascus are ongoing.
