His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II meets His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Barakat in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI – His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II met with His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance of the U.A.E. at his palace in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
His Excellency welcomed His Holiness to the U.A.E. and expressed his pleasure to meet with the head of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch.
His Holiness the Patriarch thanked His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan for the warm welcome he received, expressing his happiness at seeing the religious openness and tolerance existed in the United Arab Emirates.
During the meeting, both sides discussed a number of cultural and religious issues, as well as the history of the Syriac Orthodox Church and its relationship with the Arab countries.
The meeting was attended by their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Eustatheos Ishak, Patriarchal Vicar in the UAE for the Jacobite Syrian Church, Mor Bartholmaeus Nathanael Youssef, Patriarchal Vicar in the UAE and the Arab Gulf, and Mor Boutros Kassis, Patriarchal Assistant, Very Rev. Fr. Markose Abraham, Patriarchal Secretary for Indian Affairs, and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.
