DAA delegation meets with Belgian Foreign Ministry in Brussels

BRUSSELS – A delegation from the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAA) met with officials of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brussels yesterday. The delegation was headed by Mr. Badran Jia Kurd – Deputy Co-President of the Executive Council and Dr. Abdulkarim Omar – Co-Chair of the External Relations Commission. The delegation met with Mr. Bernard Quintin – Chief of Staff of Minister Philippe Coffin, Anick Van Calster – Director General of Bilateral Relations, and Tina Schollers – Director of International Judicial Cooperation and Aid to Belgians.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views regarding the general situation in Syria, and the specific situations in Idlib and DAA-administered areas. The situation of displaced people and the need for humanitarian aid provided by international community was also discussed.

The two sides also discussed the need for cooperation and coordination to address the problem of thousands of ISIS fighters and their families still in detention camps in North and East Syria.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest should continue.
