DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria – International Coalition aircraft continue to support the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the joint mission to combat sleeper cells of the Islamic State in the Deir ez-Zor countryside.
Despite increased tension resulting from the partial U.S. withdrawal from the Syrian – Turkish border that facilitated a Turkish invasion of North Syria, the U.S. support mission has continued. The scope of the mission still includes air support, equipment delivery, and training, albeit in a more limited geographic area. Both the U.S. and SDF have voiced their dedication to efforts aimed at maintaining security and stability in North and East Syria.
One International Coalition officials affirmed the continuation of their partnership with the SDF, noting that nothing stands in the way of their work to eliminate terrorism, clear the region of sleeper cells, and maintaining security in the region.
