Baghdede Crisis Committee holds coronavirus prevention meeting

BAGHDEDE, Iraq – On Thursday, the Crisis Committee of Baghdede, in the Nineveh Plain region of northern Iraq, held a meeting to discuss preventative measures against the transmission of Covid-19, also known as coronavirus, in line with the recommendations of the Crisis Management Committee of Nineveh Governorate.

During the meeting, a review was made of the capabilities possessed by Baghdede’s Department of Health and what measures were already being taken to address the coronavirus epidemic. Dr. Samer, Director of the Baghdede Department of Health, and Dr. Alaa, Director of Hamdaniya Hospital, confirmed that Baghdede is free of any suspected cases of Covid-19.

Both officials emphasized the preventive measures that citizens should follow, such as staying away from large gatherings, especially in cafes and clubs, and the need to use medical sterilizers. In addition, medical teams in Baghdede district will be undertaking an awareness campaign for citizens at various levels and media outlets. Businesses will be familiarized with ways to prevent infection.

The Crisis Committee of Baghdede pointed out the critical role of the citizenry and clergy play in spreading awareness about preventative techniques in the service of the public interest.
