Churches in Ankawa and Erbil take preventive measures against Coronavirus

Ankawa – The Chaldean, Syriac and Assyrian Churches in Ankawa and Erbil this week announced a series of precautionary measures against the spread of the Coronavirus after several cases of infection and deaths were reported in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Per the directive containing measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, as issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq for mosques, churches and temples, the heads of Chaldean, Syriac and Assyrian churches in Ankawa decided on preventive measures.

As per release by the Chaldean Church the following measures were taken: All Christian educational activities for all study levels are suspended; Sunday evening mass, starting this Sunday the eighth of March, are cancelled; Evening ceremonies of the Way of the Cross in the churches of Ankawa are cancelled; Cancellation of condolence acceptances; The hour of prostration ceremonies in St. Eliya Shrine in Ankawa are cancelled.

All measures are until further notice.
