Syriac Union Party on International Women’s Day: continue the struggle against occupation and authoritarian mentality!

Derik, Syria – The co-chair of the Syriac Union Party in Derik, Gozarto (al-Jazeera) Region, Ellin Gorgis congratulated all the women of the Syrian components of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, including Syriacs, Arabs, Armenians and Kurds on the occasion of March 8 International Women’s Day. She called on all women to continue the struggle against occupation and authoritarian mentality.

The co-chair of the Syriac Union Party in Derik Ellin Gorgis said that women have sacrificed themselves for their freedom and the freedom of society as a whole. Women have lived through many difficulties throughout history but were able to overcome those difficulties to carry forward a message of peace and freedom to the present day.

Gorgis added: “The Turkish occupier has targeted women in the first place in every attack on the regions of northeastern Syria. The evidence for this is the deliberate targeting and killing, in the most horrific way, of the General Secretary of the Future Party Hevrin Khalaf. Hevrin has become a symbol of peace and an example for all women to escalate the struggle and take revenge for her.”

Ellin Gorgis called on all women, especially women in North and East Syria, to continue the struggle and to be one strong hand in the face of occupation and to liberate all regions and liberate Syria.
