SYRIA: Turkey reinforces positions in Idlib while its proxies fight one another in Azaz
IDLIB, Syria – Turkish military convoys continue to enter Syrian territory through Idlib, with nearly 70 Turkish military vehicles seen entering from the Kafar Losen Border Crossing on Wednesday heading towards Turkish positions in the area.
The number of military vehicles that entered Syrian territory since the beginning of the ceasefire has reached 820 military vehicles, in addition to hundreds of soldiers.
Since the beginning of February until present, more than 4,220 Turkish military vehicles have entered Syrian territory, while the number of Turkish soldiers deployed in Idlib and Aleppo during the same period is more than 9,200.
Also on Wednesday, as Turkey continued to reinforce both its positions in Idlib and in North Syria, violent clashes took place between two factions of the Syrian National Army (SNA), a collection of militias, including several espousing Islamist ideologies, formed and funded by Turkey. One faction involved is confirmed to be the “Storm of the North”. Casualties and deaths were reported among both sides, without information on the cause of clashes.
The clashes caused panic and fear among the city’s residents, leading to the closure of shops and roads in the city.
