SYRIA: 200 displaced people from Deir ez-Zor leave Al-Hol Camp and return home

HASAKAH, Syria – On Thursday, 200 displaced people living in Al-Hol Camp, east of Hasakah city, returned to their homes around Deir ez-Zor.

The administration of Al-Hol Camp that the departures come from the areas of Shafa, Soussa, and Hajin who had been displaced to the camp last year as the fighting began to liberate the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor from the Islamic State (ISIS). This is the 13th group of displaced people in Al-Hol Camp to return to their home areas. The previous group, 35 families from Raqqa and Tabqa, returned to their homes in February.

More than 4,000 people have left Al-Hol since June of last year, returning to Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, and Kobanê. Al-Hol currently contains 68,000 displaced people and refugees, including 12,000 family members of foreign ISIS fighters.
