Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) issues public statement marking Nowruz

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA – On the occasion of Nowruz, a holiday marking the arrival of the spring or vernal equinox celebrated worldwide by various ethno-linguistic groups, the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) issued a statement, congratulating the peoples of North and East Syria.

Statement to Public Opinion

Many people, especially the Kurdish people, celebrate the beginning of spring on March 21 of each year marking the start of a new life and a new year for the peoples of the region, where this day represents a symbol of freedom and salvation from injustice to all the peoples of the Middle East.

Newroz Eid , which was and is still a symbol of peace, brotherhood, justice and equality, its features lay down the principles of solution to the war and the crisis in Syria, where these features formed the cornerstone of the project of democratic Self-Administration.

In light of these principles, the components of the region, including Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Assyrians, Turkmen, and others, were able to translate the concepts of democratic nation and brotherhood of peoples on the ground, in cooperation and cohesion of the arms of their daughters and sons to protect societal security and peace, fighting terrorism, defeating ISIS in Al-Baghuz by the Syrian Democratic Forces, and defending Syrian lands in the face of Turkish occupier and invader

The Turkish state not only cooperated with terrorist organizations to strike security and destabilize Syria, but from the beginning it sought to implement its new Ottoman project to occupy Syrian lands, starting from Jarabulus, Azaz, Al-Bab to Afrin, Kre Sbei / Tal Abyad and Ras Al-Ain / Sri Kaniye, Committing massacres against the people of the region, displacing them from their places of origin, conducting demographic changes, and pushing the lives of Syrians to perish and offering them to humiliation by using refugees as blackmail against Europe.

We, in the Syrian Democratic Council, as we offer our warmest congratulations to Kurdish people and all people’s in the region with coming of new Newroz feast. We promise our people to back them in the crises. We will be steadfast and keep our promise alongside with SDF and all components of the region until liberating all occupied Syrian lands and defeating Turkish occupier. As we stress once again to strengthen our struggle to achieve a decentralized, democratic state that protects and preserves freedom and dignity of Syrians.

We urge all citizens to take the necessary preventive health measures with the phenomenon of emergence of corona virus as a global epidemic. We invite them to adhere to decisions issued by Self-Administration of N-E Syria and health agencies concerned in this regard. We wish our people and all the people of the world, health and safety, inviting them to cooperate in order to save humanity from the catastrophe.

Every Newroz, we wish the best for our Syrian people and peoples of the region.
