Scouts of St. Jacob of Nisibin Church in Södertälje are coming to the help of the Syriac elderly
SÖDERTÄLJE, Sweden — In these times of pandemic, the elderly suffer most. Most elderly are confined to their houses these troubling days. But the scouts of St. Jacob of Nisibin Church in Södertälje are coming to the help of the Syriac elderly in the city of Södertälje. The chair of the scouts Adnan Shamoun said to our news desk;
“The leadership of the scouts of our church has decided to help our elderly in Södertälje in these most difficult times for them. We will help the elderly with their daily needs like getting them their groceries and medicines, so they don’t have to go outside and risk contracting the coronavirus. We know that they are most at risk. The elderly who need our help can contact us as at our church phone number.”
More than half of the population of the municipality of Södertälje has a foreign background and the municipality of Södertälje has a population of about 99.000 of which a third is Syriac.
