U.A.E.: Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to President Al-Assad: Syria will not be left alone in these challenging times

Abu Dhabi, Damascus – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad discussed in a phone call with United Arab Emirates Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan the latest developments and repercussions because of the COVID-19 outbreak in the region as well as the precautionary measures taken in both countries to curb this pandemic.

Sheikh Bin Zayed stated the United Arab Emirates supports the Syrian people in these exceptional times and offered his help in overcoming this pandemic. He said human solidarity in challenging times comes first, “Syria will not be left alone during these critical conditions,” Bin Zayed said. The Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad welcomed the noble offer of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and valued the position of the United Arab Emirates regarding the difficult challenges the region and the whole world are now witnessing.

The United Arab Emirates loosely restored ties with President Assad at the end of 2018 after U.S. President Trump announced the US would leave Syria in the future. Although the interaction between the two countries was kept to a minimum the United Arab Emirates seems to feel obliged, in times of crisis, to help the Syrian President and his people.
