CEC and COMECE: Though we cannot gather, we pray for Christ to fill our hearts

BRUSSELS — This year’s celebration of Easter (Western calendar) is set to be unique as the novel coronavirus COVID-19 has caused most western churches to cancel services. A joint message regarding Easter has been issued by the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) and the Conference of European Churches (CEC).

In the statement, the chairpersons of both COMECE and CEC prayed that Easter may fill people’s hearts with hope and light. They also prayed to God to bless and preserve humanity, closing with the proclamation, “Christ is Risen! Truly, He is Risen!”
