NORTH & EAST SYRIA: Syrian Democratic Forces arrest ISIS leader south of al-Hasakah

Al-HASAKAH, Syria – As the evil terrorist activity of ISIS seems to have increased again in the north of Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in cooperation with the U.S.-led international Coalition against ISIS launched a large-scale operation in which they arrested an ISIS leader in the city of Ash-Shaddadi, south of al-Hasakah. On the 8th of April, an anti-terrorist team of the SDF arrested Muhammad Rashid Dhiyab the “Emir” (Prince) of the ISIS Health Bureau in Ash-Shaddadi city.

It is worth noting that the activity of ISIS has increased recently in many areas of northern Syria. The Mabbug (Manbij) Military Council announced last week that it had killed a foreign national member of the terrorist organization. The terrorist member, who entered the city from the Turkish occupation areas, was trying to carry out a terrorist operation in the city of Mabbug (Manbij).

Earlier this week, ISIS had managed to control areas in the eastern countryside of Homs province, after confrontations with Syrian regime forces. ISIS fighters took control of houses in the al-Sukhnah area in the Homs Valley after fierce battles with the regime forces and the militants loyal to it, coinciding with intense ground shelling in the areas of clashes. The death toll on both sides rose to forty-nine: 27 regime’s forces and militants loyal to it, while ISIS lost 22 fighters.

Terrorist attacks have increased after appeals to stop the ongoing war and to start a political solution, especially in light of the spread of the Corona epidemic.
