Feast of Resurrection: Member of Parliament Tuma Çelik conveys hope for equal citizenship

ANKARA, MARDIN, Turkey –Syriac Member of Turkish Parliament Tuma Çelik, in a politically tinted Easter message, congratulated all who celebrate the Feast of the Resurrection of Christ, the symbol of Rising, today. People’s Democratic Party MP Çelik conveyed in his Easter message a political call for equality for Syriacs and other minorities in Turkey.

MP Çelik said that Syriacs have fought for decades to become equal citizens in the Turkish Republic, to live their lives in the equality of free and worthy citizenship. But to little avail. He said Syriacs many times have faced discrimination in their right to pray and their right to inherit possessions were thwarted and prevented. The HDP MP concludes with the hope for equal citizenship, that all citizens in Turkey can freely speak in their own language, that they will have the freedom to exercise and protect their faith and that all be healthy in this stay-at-home Feast of the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
