Priest Zakaria of St. Kyriako’s Orthodox Church in Zalin (Qamishli), Syria: Let next year be a year of peace and security

ZALIN ܙܐܠܝܢ (QAMISHLI), Syria – On Palm Sunday (eastern calendar), Mass was held in churches without the presence of worshipers, the service confined to priests and deacons as a precautionary measure taken by churches to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19.

In an interview with SuroyoTV, Zakaria Massoud, priest of St. Kyriako’s Orthodox Church in Zalin (Qamishli), congratulated Syriac people on Palm Sunday, praying to God to save the world from this disease, heal the wounded, and to seek mercy for souls of those who died of this disease. Massoud said he prayed on this day, the day of Christ’s entry into Jerusalem, that peace and love prevail in Syria, and that next year be a year of security and peace.
