North and East Syria Deputy Co-Chair Gawriye: DAA will distribute aid to all that need it, please abide by the curfew for everyone’s safety
ZALIN ܙܐܠܝܢ (QAMISHLI), Syria – In an interview with SuroyoTV, Mrs. Elizabeth Gawriye, Deputy Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) in North and East Syria explained the mechanism of distributing humanitarian aid by the DAA in the wake of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
Even prior to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the DAA was stretched economically thin due to years of war and de facto embargo. Now, with COVID-19 pressing pause on the global and well as the local economy due to lockdowns and curfews, the DAA has stepped in to provide as much assistance to struggling and impoverished as is possible.
According to Gawriye, the DAA has allocated a large number of humanitarian aid boxes to needy families whose financial source had been suspended after the COVID-19 curfew imposed in the DAA region. The distribution of aid will be handed in batches and made available as it is ready. The DAA Commission of Social Affairs and Local Councils distributes the aid to local autonomous and civil administrations for distribution to families.
Gawriye stated that the humanitarian aid will cover all needy families of North and East Syria.
Gawriye stressed the necessity of residents’ commitment to the COVID-19 precautionary curfew in addition to their cooperation with the Internal Security Forces (ISF) to ensure everybody’s safety.
