Human Rights Association in Turkey: Our request is the same, diagnose, say sorry and compensate for the Genocide of 1915
MARDIN ܡܪܕܝܢ Turkey – The Human Rights Association (İnsan Hakları Derneği), in a press statement, repeated her call to the Republic of Turkey to recognize the Genocide of 1915 on the Syriac, Pontus Greek and Armenian peoples, to ask for forgiveness and return taken lands and properties.
IHD in the statement says that on 24 April 1915 the Ottoman Empire arrested leaders, intellectuals and academics to start the process of ethnic cleansing of the Armenians, Syriacs and Pontus Greeks. Hence April 24th marks the start of the Genocide. Since that day blood and tears have kept flowing. And they will keep flowing until guilt is confessed and the debt settled. The statement concludes with:
“we have and we will keep calling for the Genocide to be recognized. And forgiveness needs to be asked from the Armenians, Syriacs and Pontus Greeks who now are scattered all over the world. And the taken lands and properties need to be returned to their rightful owners.”
