SYRIA: Damascus sets date for primary and secondary school exams

DARAMSUQ (DAMASCUS) – The Syrian government in Damascus has taken a number of precautionary measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic which led to suspending schools early and delaying academic testing. Yesterday, the Syrian Ministry of Education announced the new date for primary and secondary school exams.

The Syrian government’s team tasked with managing the country’s response to the coronavirus has set 21 June 2020 as the new test date. Exams usually start on 5 June of each year. Rather than the multiple rounds of testing that would occur in a normal year, this year’s exam will only be one round to avoid unnecessary crowds of students.

The Syrian government in Damascus announced earlier this week that all students of transitional classes have automatically been advanced to higher classes, while universities and institutes have been suspended until the end of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
