Joseph Hajjar (USUP): We will continue to provide aid to Syriacs in Lebanon in light of state’s failure
BEIRUT – A delegation of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) in Lebanon visited the Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese in Beirut in the al-Msaytbeh area on Tuesday. The delegation, headed by USUP Secretary of Social Affairs Joseph Hajjar and consisting of members of the party’s central council, was received by Bishop of the Archdiocese, His Eminence Daniel Gawriya, in the presence of Father Charbel Bahhy.
During the visit, the delegation delivered His Eminence a number of food baskets to be allocated to the people of the areas of al-Msaytbeh and al-Ashrafieh and asked about the parishioners needs in the difficult circumstances presented to the people of Lebanon by the economic crisis and coronavirus pandemic.
His Eminence welcomed the support of the USUP for the Syriac community and thanked the Syriac people in the diaspora who contributed in assisting the Syriac families in need.
The Bishop also wished that USUP continue in its mission to provide services for the Syriac people of Lebanon.
Hajjar stressed that in light of the Lebanese state’s failure, it is the party’s duty to assist the Syriac people in any way possible.
“The Universal Syriac Union Party will continue to provide aid with the support of the Syriac people in the diaspora,” Hajjar concluded.
