USUP President Mrad: Crisis relief cells should be established throughout Lebanon to help needy families
BEIRUT – In a statement on Tuesday, President of Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) in Lebanon Ibrahim Mrad announced the end of the first two phases of the party’s Heart-to-Heart aid campaign to distribute food aid to hundreds of needy families in Lebanon with the support of the Syriac people in the diaspora and the institutions of Beth Nahrin National Council in European countries. The campaign covered the areas of northern Matn, Baabda, Beirut, Zahle, Tripoli, and Kesrouane, all of which suffer from an acute economic crisis and poor living conditions followed by the spread of coronavirus that deprived thousands of families of their income.
At the USUP headquarters in Beirut, USUP President Mrad called for the formation of a crisis relief cell in every region of Lebanon with the aim of helping families in need according to the available capabilities. He also thanked the Syriac diaspora for the aid contributed in addition to their institutions for their continuous support of the USUP.
