NORTH AND EAST SYRIA: Food baskets distributed to the families of Syriac-Assyrian martyrs in Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria – A delegation from the Syriac-Assyrian Martyrs’ Families Foundation, Syriac Military Council (MFS), and Syriac Security Forces (Sutoro) distributed food baskets to the families of martyrs in Hasakah provided by the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA).
During the visits, the delegation listened to the problems and concerns of the families and promised to work to meet their needs with what resources they had available.
The families expressed their appreciation for the gesture and support which comes at a time of great difficulty for many.
The difficult economic conditions, made worse by measures imposed to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, have made daily life difficult for those who have lost families members in the fight against the Islamic State (ISIS) and forces of the Turkish occupation.
The Christians of Hasakah Province, and especially those living in the Khabur Valley, have suffered years of displacement, first at the hands of ISIS and now at the hands of the Turkish-backed militias who invaded the areas north of the Khabur Valley in October 2019.
