U.S.-led Coalition forces conduct air and land patrols in eastern Syria

Al-HASAKAH, DAYRIK, Syria – As part of its intensified military operations against ISIS, its re-insurgence and recent increased terrorist activity, especially in relation to oil fields in northeastern Syria, U.S. -led international coalition forces this week conducted air and land patrols over oil fields in al-Hasakah and Dayrik (al-Malikiyah) countryside.

“On its Twitter account the Special Operations Joint Task Force stated that its forces: support the Syrian Democratic Forces in securing oil fields in eastern Syria to deny Daesh access to resources that could allow them to gain strength.” Coalition aircraft also conducted patrols over villages around Qara Dagh (Kratchok), south of Dayrik, where the largest oil fields are located.

In earlier statements, Operation Inherent Resolve Commander-in-Chief general Pat White said that: “The US plans in northeastern Syria have not changed as the coalition continues to support the Syrian Democratic Forces in the war against ISIS, and provides them with intelligence, military and air support according to what this stage requires and needs.”

And the OIR Coalition also reported this week, that “U.S. Forces conducted a live-fire base defense exercise in the Eastern Syrian Stabilization Area to ensure the highest level of readiness, to support our partner forces and to guarantee the enduring defeat of Daesh remnants, bringing further stability to the region.”
