Prisoners exchanged between Syrian regime and National Front for Liberation in Idlib
TAFTANAZ, Syria – On Monday, The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported a prisoner exchange had taken place between the National Front for Liberation (NFL) and the Syrian regime in Taftanaz, northeast of Idlib.
According to SOHR’s sources, the exchange followed an agreement between the NFL and Syrian regime for the latter to release three members of the NFL and the former releasing one member of Syrian regime forces, a civilian, and the bodies of two Hezbollah fighters.
The exchange of prisoners between the Syrian regime and factions of the opposition occasionally occur. A similar exchange took place recently in the western Aleppo countryside between the Syrian regime and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). In that exchange, four members of HTS were exchanged for a colonel and soldier of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).
Another exchange took place between the Syrian regime and HTS near the town of Einjara in the Aleppo countryside where the body of an Iranian militia member was handed over in exchange for two members of HTS.
