Turkish forces amass air defenses along the Syrian-Turkish border following visit of Turkish Minister of Defense Akar to Idlib
IDLIB, Syria – After the visit of Turkish Minister of Defense Hulusi Akar to the border with Syria on Saturday, Turkish armored vehicles began once again to move towards the de-escalation zone and for the first time air defense systems have been relocated to the Syrian-Turkish border, signaling a military buildup in a prelude to a possible major escalation in the region.
According to Turkish News24, Turkish forces in Idlib have brought a large number of reinforcements to the region with the aim of supporting its observation points.
Despite the buildup and sporadic violations of the Russian-Turkish ceasefire, the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria remains relatively calm.
