SYRIA: Syriac Union Party delegation visits Democratic Union Party in Zalin (Qamishli)

ZALIN (QAMISHLI), Syria – A delegation from the Syriac Union Party (SUP) in Syria visited the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Zalin (Qamishli). During the meeting, the parties stressed the need for continued coordination and the importance of dialogue which the participants said was the only way towards a political solution for the country.

The visiting SUP delegation included Co-Chair of the SUP Sanharib Barsoum and members of the SUP Executive Body Joseph Lahdo, Afram Ishak, and Noura Hanna. The delegation was received by members of the DUP Presidential Body Saleh Muslim, Abdul Karim Sarukhan, and Sama Bakdash.

The aim of the meeting was the continuation of discussions and coordination between the two parties regarding various issues and political developments in the region.

Mr. Barsoum stressed the importance of, and SUP support for, the Kurdish-Kurdish dialogue which is considered an important political step towards reaching a broader consensus affecting the entire region and Syria generally.

The two parties also agreed on several issues relating to the security and stability of the region and the joint vision for maintaining and developing the Democratic Autonomous Administration which is considered a guarantor of all people and peoples in the region.
