One killed, one injured as fires intentionally set by Turkish-backed groups ravage North and East Syria countryside

RISH AYNO (RAS AL-AYN) and ABU RASAYN, Syria – Fires continue in agricultural lands in the countryside of Tel Tamr and Abu Rasayn causing extensive damage to agricultural lands and have taken at least one life.

One citizen died and another was gravely injured while trying to put out fires in their fields in the village of Al-Asadiya near the line of contact between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA).

The village of Al-Asadiya is of special importance since it is located directly on the frontline and can act as a relative strongpoint. This also means that the village is subject to fires caused by Turkish and SNA shelling.

Across the Tel Abyad–Tel Tamr–Rish Ayno frontline, fires continue to be sparked by Turkish and SNA shelling. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported the outbreak of several new fires in the countryside of Tel Tamr, in the Khabur Valley east of Hasakah city, and Abu Rasayn, north of Hasakah city. SOHR also mentioned that the fires spreading between the lands of Timar (Umm al-Keif), Bab al-Khair, Al-Asadiya, and Umm Ashba in the northern countryside of Tel Tamr have been deliberately set by the SNA.
