Christians across North and East Syria celebration the end of the Holy Month of Virgin Mary
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA – Christians in across Gozarto (Jazira) Region celebrated the end of Virgin Mary Month, after a month of daily prayers, hymns, and candles.
Celebrations were held on Sunday in churches throughout Gozarto. Prayers and hymns were delivered in the presence of worshipers. The closing of the Virgin Mary Month includes processions inside the churches with worshipers carrying candles and pictures of the Virgin Mother while singing special hymns in her honor.
Christians usually dedicate the month of May each year to honoring Virgin Mary, where daily prayers held throughout the month.
The Holy Month of the Virgin Mary is traditionally a ritual of the Catholic Church, which has been celebrating since 1365. The Syriac Orthodox Church began practicing it in the late 1990s.
