More ISIS members arrested by the Syrian Democratic Forces of North and East Syria

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria – In coordination with the U.S.-led International Coalition, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are continuing their military operations against the cells of the Islamic State (ISIS). Yesterday, the SDF announced the arrest an ISIS member in the town of Al-Basira in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

According to the sources of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), an ISIS terrorist had been arrested while collecting Zakat (tribute) money from local residents to assist ISIS cells operating in the area.

Earlier in the month, the U.S.-led International Coalition forces in cooperation with the SDF carried out an airdrop in a village in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor last Thursday after besieging an area in the village. The residents of the village had been informed, through loudspeakers, not to leave their homes. During the operation, four ISIS members of the Iraqi nationality were arrested.
