SYRIA: Families Center in Zalin (Qamishli) reopens after coronavirus lockdown
ZALIN (QAMISHLI), Syria – The Families Center in Zalin (Qamishli) has resumed activities which were suspended due to the coronavirus lockdown.
After a short stoppage of meetings and activities, the Families Center held its first meeting on Monday and resumes its activities. The center’s administration met with teachers, children, and their mothers, to discuss issues related to the center and listened to their suggestions regarding developing a new plan for the center’s work program. The center resumed its work starting today, receiving children from 2 to 16 years old.
The center provides various courses as well as recreational activities and games. A supervisor is present at all times to watch over the children.
The Families Center was opened in Zalin in late September 2019 year with the support of many organizations, including major support from Ritz, as well as Caritas, the Rotary Club, the Syriac Cross for Relief and Development, and the Syriac Women’s Union. The center aims to support women and raise their efficiency and empowerment to enter the workforce by providing several services such sewing workshops and nursing courses.
The center includes a special section for kids’ games suitable for all ages. It provides educational and recreational services for them, in addition to psychological support and courses in music, computer programs, and drawing. The center also conducts trips, parties, and recreational activities for the kids.
