ZALIN (QAMISHLI), Syria – A fire broke out in the village of Kersheran, near Qabre Hewore, on Wednesday. The fire scorched the village hill and nearly reached the village itself.
The quick response of nearby Syriac Security Forces (Sutoro) and the work of residents and the fire brigade prevented any damage to the village houses.
Residents said that the fire was started by a spark from a short circuit caused by a recent storm. Unbeknownst to the village inhabitants, the storm had cut electric cables which extended over the hill. The presence of weeds and the force of the wind worked to spread the fire quickly, but the damage was limited to some fields of herbs.
