Universal Syriac Union Party in Lebanon continues food aid distribution as economic crisis worsens
BEIRUT – With the support of Syriac Cross and the Shai Fund, the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) distributed food rations to Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian refugees from Iraq and Syria who have taken refuge in Lebanon. The aim of the food distribution program is to help struggling families through the dire economic situation in Lebanon.
During the distribution, a leader of the USUP, Cynthia Sarhan, said that, “In light of the continuing economic crisis that Lebanon is going through, we must always stand with our people of all denominations. We thank the Shai Fund, the organizations of the Beth Nahrin National Council, and our people in the diaspora for their continued support for the party’s campaigns. We wish that these tragic circumstances, which Lebanon has not witnessed in a generation, will end. We will continue to support our people to preserve their dignity and existence.”
