Russian bombing of Al-Bab city in Turkish occupied north Syria

HOLOB (ALEPPO), Syria – Russian planes targeted several locations in Al-Bab city in the countryside of Holob (Aleppo) on Wednesday evening, killing and wounding several civilians. The airstrikes come amidst the deterioration of security in the city as Turkish-backed armed factions continue to loot, extort, and infight with minimal intervention from Turkey.

Syrian territory, especially in the north, has become a battlefield between regional parties. According to sources, the Russian planes bombed several buildings in the neighborhood of Albu Ghazal and the vicinity of Al-Salam Hospital in the neighborhood of Al-Najjar.

The bombing resulted in the destruction of a number of buildings, killing one person and wounding more than ten others.

The Russian airstrikes add to the security chaos in the city. Kidnappings, killings, and bombings have become a routine occurrence despite the campaigns of the so-called Syrian National Army, factions of the Syrian opposition funded and controlled by Turkey, to prevent the carrying weapons without a purpose.

Turkey is either incapable or unwilling to exert control over its factions. Recently, an armed group stormed a hospital in the city and shot hospital staff, which led to a state of panic among the staff and the patients.
