Second phase of anti-ISIS operation in Deir ez-Zor, Syria net early results
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria – In response to the demands of the residents of Deir ez-Zor, in eastern Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) e Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the launching of the second phase of Operation Deterring Terrorism, which resulted in arresting dozens of people suspected of terrorism and being linked to the Islamic State (ISIS).
So far, the operation has resulted in the arrests of more than 24 suspects. Furthermore, weapons and ammunition have been confiscated in the towns of Al-Busayrah and Al-Shuhail.
On Friday, in the early hours of the operation, the anti-terrorist forces arrested an ISIS cell, consisting of nine terrorists, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The arrested ISIS cell is suspected of carrying out several suicide bombings, killings, and assassinations.
SDF officials confirmed that Operation Deterring Terrorism will continue until they have achieved the operation’s goals.
