North and East Syria Executive Council Co-Chair and Deir ez-Zor elders discuss changes to improve services and combat corruption
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria — The Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of Northern and East Syria, Abdul Hamed al-Mahbash, held a meeting on Wednesday with the elders and residents of Deir ez-Zor city during which he emphasized that a comprehensive change will take place in the area in the coming days. Al-Mahbash went on to say that educational and health services will be establishment and development and corruption will be combated.
The meeting, which was held at the Deir ez-Zor Civil Council headquarters, was at the request of the elders and residents of the region and focused on the demands and complaints about the poor quality of services and the need for infrastructure repairs.
The elders also pointed out the urgent need to create new jobs for youth and support development projects.
In response to these demands, al-Mahbash explained that it is the duty of DAA to listen to the demands of the people as it is representative of their will.
During the meeting, Ghassan al-Youssef, Co-Chair of the Deir ez-Zor Civil Council, said that the fundamental solution to the problems and obstacles is the restructuring of the civil council and local councils and coordination with the people.
Al-Youssef also revealed the beginnings of the “Al-Khabour Irrigation Project”, through which the southern Hasakah countryside will be supplied with water.
