Afrin Activists Network: Turkey distributing lands of displaced people to settlers from other parts of Syria to permanently change Afrin’s demography
AFRIN, Syria — The Turkish occupation is moving to make permanent the settlement of Syrians from other parts of the country in Afrin city, in northwestern Syria. Turkish actions have ensured a major demographic change in the region. Forest lands and lands of people displaced by the Turkish invasion in 2018 are being distributed to displaced people not originally from Afrin.
Since its occupation of Afrin city and the surrounding area on 18 March 2018, Turkey has continuously violated the rights of the region inhabitants, looting property, ethnically cleansing the area of Kurds and Yezidis, and arbitrarily detaining those who have remained in an attempt to complete its project of demographic change in the region.
The Afrin Activists Network published a special report cataloging the crimes committed by the Turkish occupation and its proxies in the so-called Syrian Nation Army (SNA).
“The Turkish plot to permanently change the demography of the region is managed by several Turkish-backed agents and terrorist groups settled in the region, in cooperation with the so-called Sharia Court of the terrorist mercenaries of Turkey,” Afrin Activists Network said.
The Afrin Activists Network affirmed that the Turkish-backed agents allocated 400 sq. meters of displaced people’s lands to every newly settled family in order to build new houses for them.
