Former Turkish PM Davutoğlu: The duty of those running this country now is not to protect the minister, but the Turkish lira
ANAKARA — The former Prime Minister of Turkey and head of the Future Party, Ahmet Davutoğlu, accused Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his son-in-law, Minister of Finance and Treasury Berat Albayrak, of being responsible for the deterioration of the value of the Turkish Lira, indicating that the duty of those running this country now is not to protect the minister, but the Turkish lira, in reference to Erdoğan’s son-in-law.
For the second day, Davutoğlu renewed his accusations against Erdoğan and his son-in-law of responsibility for the deterioration of the value of the Turkish lira, saying, “The most accurate word to describe the current situation of this government is the devaluation of the currency at its hands.”
“They rendered the law worthless, as well as competence and merit, state institutions, political morals, members of parliament, education and culture and work, in the end, the Turkish lira also became worthless,” Davutoğlu continued. “In short, at the hands of this government people are underestimated.”
“They are trying to save the Minister of Economy, they preferred solidarity with the minister over the homeland,” Davutoğlu added, referring to Albayrak. He also declared that it is the duty of those running this country now not to protect the minister, but the Turkish lira.
