Statue of Virgin Mary outside Syriac Maronite church in Toronto, Canada decapitated
TORONTO — An unknown person in Toronto, Canada decapitated a statue of the Virgin Mary outside the entrance of the Syriac Maronite Our Lady of Lebanon church.
The statue has been in place at the parish for 25 years ago.
The crime, which occurred at 03:15, was documented by surveillance cameras. The perpetrator left, carrying something which the investigators believe was the head of the broken statue, since it was not found nearby.
“One of the parishioners saw the decapitated statue and informed me. Then, I informed the police immediately,” the priest of the church, Father Walid al-Khoury said. “The statue has been at the placed in the parish for 25 years.”
