ISIS members ambush Iraqi border guards in Anbar Province, killing several
ANBAR, Iraq — A security source in Iraq’s Anbar Province confirmed the killing of several Iraqi border guards and the wounding of an officer on Wednesday evening during an ambush by members of the Islamic State at a border checkpoint.
In related news, a car bomb exploded on Tuesday in an area between Tikrit and Kirkuk in Iraq, causing the death of a woman and the wounding of three security force members, according to the Security Media Cell.
Since the beginning of 2020, attacks of suspected Islamic State-linked militants have increased in Iraq, especially in the area between Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, and Diyala, colloquially known as the “Triangle of Death”.
