SYRIA: U.S. Embassy in Daramsuq announces support programs for Dayro Zcuro

DARAMSUQ and DAYRO ZCURO, Syria — The U.S. Embassy in Daramsuq (Damascus) announced via Facebook that the U.S. intends to support the agricultural and service sector in the eastern countryside of Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor).

“The U.S. will reconstruct bakeries and mills and distribute seeds, fertilizers, and drip irrigation equipment to support vegetable production,” said the embassy’s announcement. “In addition to repairing and restoring irrigation canals.”

The embassy stated that more than 30 agricultural complexes have already been repaired and restored in Dayro Zcuro, alongside support in fighting agricultural fires and the distribution of sheep and fodder.

“The U.S. is repairing and restoring drinking water stations in the Hajin area” in tandem with “efforts to renovate the Al-Khabour Canal”.

The embassy’s post said the U.S. will continue to the support the people of Dayro Zcuro in the coming months with programs to revive the local economy through financial support of agribusiness, transport, and communications in the works.

Moreover, 65 schools are to be rehabilitated, 20,000 school desks are to be produced and distributed, and UNICEF schoolbooks are to be printed.
