U.S. Department of Justice prosecutes an U.S. terrorist involved in ISIS affiliation
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Justice said in a statement that an 23-year-old Islamic State member and U.S. citizen Omer Kuzu admitted to leaving Texas with his brother Yusuf for Turkey in 2014, crossing the border and travelling to Mosul, Iraq.
Kuzu is accused of planning to provide ISIS with material support and faces up to 20 years in a federal prison.
Col. Myles B. Caggins III, spokesperson for the U.S.-led International Coalition, said in a tweet on his official Twitter account that, “In 2019, SDF captured Omar Kuzu in al-Dashisha. He pleaded guilty to terrorism charges after being returned to America for supporting ISIS in Mosul and Raqqa.”
