U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo: Serbia’s intention to blacklist Hezbollah helps restrict organization’s ability in the region

BELGRADE — “Dominoes are falling on Hezbollah’s operations in Europe,” U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated after securing the classification of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization by Serbia.

“Serbia’s announcement that it will classify Hezbollah as a terrorist organization helps to restrict the terrorist organization’s ability to raise money and operate in the region, a great step by the Serbian president,” continued Pompeo.

British Sunday Newspaper revealed in a report that, “British intelligence concluded that evidence of coordination might have emerged between Hezbollah and the banned New Irish Republican Army, according to which the Lebanese party would supply its Irish counterpart with money and weapons.”

According to the newspaper, members of the New Irish Republican Army began communicating with Hezbollah in 2017. Some of them traveled to Lebanon in 2018 to meet representatives of the organization. Following the visit, the New Irish Republican Army obtained weapons.
