Iran sends fuel tankers from Iraq to Syrian regime
AL-BUKAMAL, Syria — In an attempt to strengthen its influence within Syrian territory, Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) sent gasoline tankers from Iraq, the into Syria near Al-Bukamal, east of Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor).
The 4th Division of the Syrian Arab Army stationed in the Al-Bukamal area received the tankers.
According to local sources, the tankers did not unload their cargo in Al-Bukamal but continued towards areas under the control of the Syrian regime deeper in the country.
The sources also indicated that more tankers were expected to arrive in the coming days.to support the Syrian government as the national economy continues to collapse.
Areas under regime control have been experiencing an severe shortage of fuel for several weeks with cars queuing for days at gas stations.
