IRAQ: USAID provides $2.5 million to Ankawa Humanitarian Committee
ANKAWA, Iraq — The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has provided a $2.5 million grant to the Ankawa Humanitarian Committee (AHC) of the Chaldean Diocese of Erbil to support its relief programs for displaced persons.
An agreement was signed between Archbishop Mar Bashar Matti Warda and U.S. Consul General Rob Waller at the Chaldean Diocese of Erbil in Ankawa.
The agreement included a $2.5 million grant from USAID to the AHC for the Ankawa Relief Program for Displaced Persons as well as to train members of the Committee under the supervision of the Catholic Relief Service (CRS).
The AHC has been distributing $150 grants to nearly 2,800 displaced families from Nineveh Province in Erbil since the beginning of 2020.
