SYRIA: Kurdish Democratic Union Party visits Syriac Union Party in Syria
ZALIN, Syria — As part of the ongoing communication between the political parties of North and East Syria aimed at increasing cooperation between the various groups of North and East Syria, a delegation from the Democratic Union Party (PYD) visited the headquarters of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) in Syria on Monday.
The PYD delegation included Enwer Muslim — Co-Chair of the party, Sama Bekdash — party spokesperson, and Khalil Osman — Co-Chair of the party’s Relations Office.
They were greeted by Sanharib Barsoum, Co-Chair of the SUP, and Abdul Ahad Ishaq and Noura Hanna, members of the SUP General Council.
During the visit, the PYD delegation congratulated the SUP on the 15th anniversary its founding.
The main discussion between the delegations concerned the latest political and security developments in the country and wider region.
The most recent Turkish threats were highlighted as a point of particular mutual concern. Both parties agreed to continue efforts to develop the administrative capacity and effectiveness of the Democratic Autonomous Administrative (DAA) and to increase public participation in governance.
The two parties also agreed on the importance of reaching a political solution in Syria in accordance with U.N. Security Council Resolution 2254.
At the conclusion of the visit, both parties committed to the continuation of their regular meetings and to develop relations at all levels between the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian and Kurdish peoples.
